In pursuit of Dubai Government’s vision to attract global events of various specialties and to identify Dubai as a meeting point for experts and intellectuals, Dubai Municipality sets out to organize the Fourth International Architectural Conservation Conference and Exhibition under the title of “Sustainable Heritage: Global Vision, Local Experiences“.
This conference comes at a time where the phase “change is constant” dominates all aspects of our lives and environment. In an attempt to adopt ‘change’, Dubai Municipality has eagerly been working on shaping its vision, methodology, practice and projects to achieve sustainability to which change is key. Conservation of cultural heritage and its management –one of its key role- play a major role in achieving such strategy tacking various topics that stress on the environment, economy and society.
The main objective of the conference is to share experiences by displaying the world’s best practices in the field of cultural conservation and sustainability. Such exhibition of concepts, approaches, policies and practices can stand as a source for future locally tailored approaches and practices around the world.
In my opinion, the need for a sustainable approach towards cultural heritage is extremely necessary not only for need to conserve the material value of such sites but for the sustainable intellectual growth of thoughts and human values of the society and the nation as a whole.
